Jhonattan Vegas capped off one of the best six-hole stretches of his career with an ace at 17 to take a six-shot lead to the weekend at the Barbasol Championship at Robert Trent Jones Trail Golf Course in Opelika, Ala., Friday.
Vegas, who entered the day in a share of the lead, went birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie-birdir-ace on holes 12-17, his first nine, to finish with an 11-under 60 to get to 17 under heading to the weekend.
“That was just the peak of the round, for sure,” Vegas said. “I had a perfect number; 190 yards is my 7-iron.
