Jaco Van Zyl hit every green in regulation en route to a bogey-free 64 at the European Tour's Alstom French Open, taking a two-shot lead through 54 holes.
Van Zyl made seven birdies, including one at the final hole, Saturday at Le Golf National in Paris, taking a two-shot advantage over Maximilian Kieffer with one round to play.
“Today was really a phenomenal round,” said Van Zyl in a European Tour release. “I felt really comfortable tee to green and made a couple of nice putts.
“I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.”
Van Zyl, who has won 13 times on the Sunshine Tour, is playing for his first European Tour win.
