Florida State overtook second-round leader Stanford and won the Olympia Fields Country Club/Illini Invitational by three strokes Sunday at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club.
Jack Maguire shot 3-under 67 as the Seminoles posted a final-round 1-under 279 for an 846 total. Florida State was Golfweek’s top pick in its preseason selections in the Sept. 7 College Preview Issue of the magazine. Oklahoma State (282) placed second at 849, followed by Arizona State (282–855) and Stanford (291–856).
Stanford junior Maverick McNealy, in his season debut after playing for the U.
