Italy to host 2022 Ryder Cup

Want to know why Italy will host the 2022 Ryder Cup? The Italians promised the European Tour more money than Austria, Germany and Spain.

Nothing changes when it comes to Europe hosting modern Ryder Cups.

The European Tour released the news today that the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, just 10 miles from Rome’s city center, will host the biennial match six years from now. Italy will become the third Continental European country to stage the match after Spain in 1997 and France in 2018.

“The Eternal City of Rome will provide a wonderful backdrop for one of the great occasions in world golf,” European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley said.
