Irish players should play a big part in the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team to be announced Monday. Half of this year’s squard might come from the Emerald Isle.
Count Irishmen Paul Dunne, Gavin Moynihan, Cormac Sharvin and Gary Hurley as locks to the make the GB&I team. Scotland’s Grant Forrest and Jack McDonald are virtual locks. Englishmen Ashley Chesters and Sam Horsfield would be certainties in the eyes of many amateur aficionados on this side of the pond.
Ireland’s Jack Hume also will come into the reckoning when captain Nigel Edwards and his team of selectors sit down to finalize the 10-man GB&I team to take on the United States Sept.
