BURLINGTON, Iowa – The Iowa Hawkeyes only come to Spirit Hollow Golf Course once a year for the Golfweek Conference Challenge, but on Saturday, Tyler Stith’s team looked like they own the place.
Iowa came into the second round Sept. 26 trailing leader N.C. State by 15 strokes. By day’s end, the Hawkeyes led the Wolfpack by seven.
“It’s a place where we feel at home,” Stith said.
Iowa posted a 15-under 273 on a picture-perfect day in the midwest. Meanwhile N.C. State’s second-round score was 26 strokes higher than its Day 1 effort.
Kansas State carded a 9-under 279 to move into third, 12 shots back.
