IOC President Wants Good Competition From Best Golfers

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — The president of the IOC says golf doesn't have to do anything spectacular in its return to the Olympics except to have a good competition among the best players.

Even if the best players doesn't include Tiger Woods.

Thomas Bach says he spoke to Woods in February at a ski championship and said he would look forward to welcoming him to Rio de Janeiro next year. He says Woods told him he would love to qualify but that it might not work out. Woods was in the top 70 at the time. Now he is No.
