WOBURN, England – Mo Martin checked her cell phone before teeing off Friday at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
There was a text from her mother, who is back in California.
Linda Martin told Mo she was up polishing the Ricoh Women’s British Open trophy that Mo won two years ago at Royal Birkdale. Mo gave it to her mother for safe keeping.
“It was really sweet to get her message,” Mo said. “She just said, ‘Great memories, play well.’”
Martin did.
With a 4-under-par 68, Martin moved three shots off the lead going into the weekend.
