Jimmy Walker blistered Baltusrol Golf Club on Thursday, shooting a 5-under 65 that included six birdies and just one bogey. The 65 matches his lowest score at a PGA Championship, tying the 65 he shot Sunday at the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla.
There was a time when we might have expected this type of play from the Texan. Walker won the 2015 Valero Texas Open, and for one week was ranked No. 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Statistically, he was one of the better putters on the PGA Tour and had enough length off the tee to create a lot of birdie chances.
