ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Although it took Mackenzie Hughes three extra holes and a Monday finish, he closed out his first PGA Tour victory at the RSM Classic with a par on the third playoff hole.
Not a bad birthday present for a player who turns 26 on Tuesday, a haul that includes an invitation to next year's Masters, two-year Tour exemption and $1.08 million winner’s check.
Not that Hughes had any particularly extravagant plans for his fall windfall.
“We'll buy a TV, that's been on the list of some things to buy,” Hughes said.
