He’s the man who wrote a book that delved deep into the aura of Ben Hogan. But Jim Dodson concedes it was another book that gave him a peek into Hogan — and now that book is headed to a public auction.
“How to Relax: Scientific Body Control,” written in 1945 by William H. Miller, was owned by Hogan, who reportedly referred to it frequently when he was recovering from his infamous accident in 1949. Later, one of Hogan’s best friends passed the book on to Dodson during his laborious research.
“I found the book to be useful insight into the Wee Iceman’s carefully cultivated public persona and a key to his success,” Dodson said.
