The Longhorns were winless in a shortened fall, but the opening event of the spring proved that the second half of the season would be a different story.
Texas proved too much on Saturday at the Arizona Intercollegiate, as the team fired a final-round 7-under 277 to jump from eight behind to a five-shot victory. The 277 was the best score of the closing 18 by three shots, and outpaced 36-hole leader Washington by 13 shots.
In the end, Texas finished at 9 under total, with Washington second at 4 under, California in third at Even Par and New Mexico in fourth at 4 over.
