Hoffman has 63 to take early lead at TPC Boston (The Associated Press)

NORTON, Mass. (AP) -- Charley Hoffman had another low round at the Deutsche Bank Championship. This time, it didn't come with a trophy.

Hoffman made birdie on half of the holes at the TPC Boston for an 8-under 63, giving him a three-shot lead among the early starters in the second round Saturday. Five years ago, Hoffman closed with a 62 when he won the Deutsche Bank.

Jordan Spieth, who was trying to avoid consecutive missed cuts for the first time in his career, played in the afternoon.

Hoffman was at 12-under 130 in pristine scoring conditions.
