Henderson Monday qualifies for LPGA event

Brooke Henderson is at it again.

Days after nearly winning the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic, the 17-year-old birdied the second extra hole to win a four-person playoff and earn the last of two Monday qualifier spots for this week's Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout.

Henderson shot a 2-under 70 to tie for second in the 46-person qualifier, the conclusion of which was pushed to Tuesday because of inclement weather. Her 20th-hole birdie defeated Nicole Jeray, Erica Popson and Portland Rosen after Heather Bowie Young earned medalist honors with a 68.

Henderson held the lead after 54 holes last week at Lake Merced, and the Canadian ultimately finished alone in third place, one shot out of a playoff where Lydia Ko defeated Morgan Pressel.
