Healthy and wielding new clubs, Cristie Kerr shines early at LPGA season finale

NAPLES, Fla. – Cristie Kerr poured in a 15-footer on the last hole for her sixth birdie of the back nine.

“It was great to feel that magic coming down the last five or six holes,” said Kerr, who opened with a 4-under 68 and trails by two at the CME Group Tour Championship.

Golf fans haven’t seen much of Kerr since the Solheim Cup, when she posted a mind-boggling nine birdies in 12 holes to dust Charley Hull in Sunday singles. In October, Kerr withdrew from her next LPGA event in South Korea after experiencing terrible back pain during the first round.
