Five birdies on her back nine propelled Haru Nomura to the top of the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open leaderboard and her first victory on the LPGA.
Nomura, 23, closed with a 7-under 65 on the Grange Golf Club's West Course in Adelaide, Australia, to go along with scores of 69, 68 and 70 for a total of 16-under 272 and a $195,000 first-place check.
“It has a big meaning, a first win on the LPGA Tour,” Nomura said. “It was surprising that it came early, but it’s just the beginning, I hope.”
To start the day, Karrie Webb and Lydia Ko battled back-and-forth on the front nine.
