Darren Clarke announced his three European Ryder Cup vice captains on Friday, choosing Padriag Harrington, Thomas Bjorn and Paul Lawrie.
The three assistants have combined for 10 Ryder Cup appearances as players, compiling a 14-18-6 record in the biennial match-play competition. Individually, they were part of victorious teams in 1997, 2002, '04, '06, '12 and '14.
Harrington was a vice captain for Paul McGinley during Europe’s 2014 triumph. Bjorn was an active member of the most recent team, but has three times (2004, ’10, ’12) served as an assistant.
