CHASKA, Minn. — A pack of major winners, including the defending champion, Sung Hyun Park, chased Hannah Green down the stretch of the Women’s P.G.A. Championship. But Green, who was bidding to go wire to wire for her first L.P.G.A. victory, was not the least daunted.
How could she be intimidated by the star power behind her after spending the week in close quarters with Karrie Webb, the most accomplished women’s golfer from Australia, Green’s homeland?
With her mentor, Webb, watching from her gallery, Green carded a par 72 on Sunday for a four-day total of nine-under-par 279, one stroke better than the defending champion, Park, who closed with a 68.
