Late changes Saturday at the Small Business Connection Championship shuffled the leaderboard, and Emiliano Grillo and Eric Axley came out on top.
The duo finished 54 holes at River Run Country Club deadlocked at 14 under, but that scenario never seemed likely until the last few holes of the day.
Axley, a 41-year-old Athens, Tennessee native, birdied five of his first six holes to race out to 17 under and took early control.
“I got to 17 and if I could have stayed there it would have been awesome,” Axley said. “But I tried as hard as I could.
