ORLANDO, Fla. – Golf used to be simply a sport. Now it’s also a business. That’s the message coming out of Orlando, where the recent PGA Merchandise Show kicked off a month-long gathering of alphabet-soup associations, all of them devoted in one way or another to making golf a better game for as many people as possible.
OK, boys and girls, repeat after me: PGA, USGA, GCSAA, NGCOA, CMAA. It’s enough to make you forget about the business of golf and just go out to play. Which, after all, is precisely the point of what these groups do.
