Golfer tackles suspect fleeing from cops

Who says golfers aren't athletes?

One man at a golf course in Carlsbad, Calif., proved that those guys on the links aren't always ones to be trifled with.

As the San Diego Union-Tribune reported, a suspect fleeing from cops was tackled by a man playing golf at one of the courses at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad on Friday.

The 43-year-old golfer had noticed a cop chasing the man and immediately took action. His takedown allowed the officer to catch up and arrest the fleeing suspect.

The 22-year-old suspect, who was arrested and booked into jail on Friday, had driven away during a traffic stop for an expired registration and crashed into a median before bolting from his car and running off.
