Last year one could blame Boston’s ridiculous winter weather on golf’s meager participation at MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference.
Affectionately known as Dorkapalooza, this year's gathering of stat junkies, number crunchers and jocks was last weekend and it attracted more than 3,900, including personnel from more than 130 teams, 320 academic institutions and 300 industries. But in those numbers, there were only nine folks in attendance from the golf industry: two each from TaylorMade-Adidas Golf and Titleist, along with one from Cleveland/Srixon, Ping, the LPGA and the PGA Tour. I was there, too, the only member of the golf media to make the trek to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
