Jan 8 (Reuters) - World number one Jordan Spieth carded a second round nine-under-par 64 to vault into a four-stroke lead at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii on Friday.
Spieth had a 35-foot chip-in for eagle at the par-five ninth and added seven birdies on another benign day at the Kapalua Plantation course on Maui.
His 16-under halfway total of 130 is four better than first round leader Patrick Reed (69), Kevin Kisner (65) and Fabian Gomez (66), and the 22-year-old is on track to break the tournament record of 31-under set by Ernie Els in 2003.
