Golf Channel laid off about 30 employees, or 3 percent of its work force, on Friday.
Most of the layoffs came in Golf Channel’s original-production division and related positions. The cutbacks indicate a reduction in costly programming that has a limited shelf life or use on the channel’s website.
“Golf Channel has realigned some business functions to add emphasis on live events, news and digital businesses,” a spokesman said. “As a result, some positions primarily working on taped programming with limited digital focus have been impacted.”
Golf Channel recently has been trying to rationalize the costs of some of its original programming.
