Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Hawaii shot a 4-under 68 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C., to take the lead after the first round at the AJGA’s Rolex Girls Junior Championship.
Galdiano, a Rolex Junior All-American in 2013 and ’14, posted the lowest score she has ever recorded at the event. She has recently verbally committed to UCLA.
“I’m excited to play the rest of the rounds,” Galdiano said.
Angel Yin of Arcadia, Calif., Kelly Whaley of Farmington, Conn., and Jillian Hollis of Rocky River, Ohio are tied for second at 3-under 69.
