Furyk, Weir round out Prez Cup assistant captains

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – The team rooms at the upcoming Presidents Cup have gotten a little more crowded.

For the first time in the event’s 23-year history, both captains will be allowed to have four assistant captains on their roster. The change matches the one implemented for last year’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.

U.S. captain Steve Stricker had previously named Tiger Woods, Davis Love III and Fred Couples as assistants, and Tuesday at the Valspar Championship he announced that the fourth American earpiece will go to Jim Furyk.
