Furyk 'very concerned' about wrist after BMW WD

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Jim Furyk withdrew from the BMW Championship on Thursday because of a wrist injury, marking the first time in two decades that he has pulled out of an event.

Furyk, who two years ago shot 59 here at Conway Farms, walked off the course after six holes because of pain in his left wrist.

The 45-year-old said afterward that he developed soreness toward the end of the Deutsche Bank Championship and again over the bye week. During Wednesday’s pro-am, he experienced “sharp pain” when hitting wedges or punch shots, and in the first round here he wore athletic tape on his wrist.
