With the hiring of Paul Azinger to be its lead analyst, Fox Sports took a big step toward raising its credibility in golf circles and addressing problems that hounded the network during its first year producing U.S. Golf Association championships.
In Azinger, Fox golf producer Mark Loomis finally got the lead analyst he wanted from the outset. Several sources have said that Loomis wanted Azinger in the 18th tower but that Fox Sports executives insisted on Greg Norman, with whom they had a relationship that dated to the 1990s, when Norman and Fox tried to develop a world golf tour.
