Fowler, Berger clinging to final FedEx Cup spots

CARMEL, Ind. – Gary Woodland understands the final-round stress of this event.

Two years ago, he entered the BMW Championship at No. 30 in the FedEx Cup standings. He tied for 23rd, hung on to the 29th position and advanced to the Tour Championship.

“I wasn’t playing great,” he said, “so it added to a stressful Sunday. I’m excited about the way I’m playing now, so I should be all right the next couple of days.”

Even with a poor performance through three rounds at Cherry Hills (he’s tied for 48th, 16 shots back), Woodland is still projected to finish 26th in points, which would send him back to East Lake.
