Susie Maxwell Berning joined elite company with Wednesday’s announcement that she has been selected for enshrinement in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
She joins Tiger Woods, former PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem and golf course developer extraordinaire Marion Hollins as the fourth member of the 2021 class of inductees.
Really, though, Berning has been among the elites of the game since winning the U.S. Women’s Open at the Country Club of Rochester in New York in 1973. It was her third U.S. Women’s Open title. Only Mickey Wright (4) and Betsy Rawls (4) have won more.
