LONGWOOD, Fla. –– Florida Gulf Coast head coach Eric Booker remembers his first college tournament as the Eagles’ coach. It was the 2014 Sagamore Fall Preview in Noblesville, Ind., and Booker has just been hired a few days before.
“It was so cold and rainy,” Booker said, “and I’m like, ‘Don’t you guys have umbrellas?’ And they’re like, ‘No, you need to buy umbrellas for us.’ ”
The Eagles finished 14th out of 14 teams in Booker’s coaching debut. A little more than a year later, the former PGA Tour golfer is getting used to his new career.
