LANCASTER, Pa. – There’s a special fan driving over to see Stacy Lewis compete on Sunday at the U.S. Women’s Open. Grace Desjardins, a 19-year-old sophomore at Penn State, has kept the handwritten notecard that Lewis wrote her seven years ago about battling scoliosis.
Desjardins, a golfer who wore a back brace 20 hours a day, couldn’t believe that a hotshot Arkansas player would take the time to pen, in red ink, an encouraging message and send along a signed Razorbacks poster and visor. For years, Desjardins wore that visor any time she had an important golf match.
