PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – There were a few “welcome home” comments, some inquiries about his easy commute, and he was told that folks were pulling for the local kid. Matt Every soaked it all in Wednesday morning on his walk to the 10th tee at the Stadium Course, feeling very much in his comfort zone.
It might be just his fourth appearance as a competitor in the Players Championship, but he’s got a great feel for the arena. While growing up in Daytona Beach, some 90 miles south, Every said his father would take him to the Players and what was then known as the Bay Hill Invitational in Orlando.
