Fitzpatrick seeks breakout win at Omega European Masters

Matthew Fitzpatrick fired a 6-under 64 to take a share of the 54-hole lead at the European Tour's Omega European Masters.

Fitzpatrick, a 20-year-old native of Sheffield, England, went bogey-free on the back nine at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland, making birdie on four of the final six holes to reach 12 under overall. He's even with fellow Englishman Danny Willett heading into Sunday's final round after Willett, the 36-hole leader, shot a 1-over 71 Saturday.

Fitzpatrick, the 2013 U.S. Amateur champion, spent one semester at Northwestern before returning to Europe to pursue a full-time amateur career and eventually turn pro.
