WOBURN, England –– Matthew Fitzpatrick may get a new set of wheels sooner than he hoped. The $766,000 for winning the British Masters at Woburn Golf Club, his first European Tour title, should buy him a fairly decent car.
Fitzpatrick returned a closing 3-under 68 for a 15-under total of 269. He defeated Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti, Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen and Ireland’s Shane Lowry by two shots.
Fitzpatrick has been knocking on the door all season. The 2013 U.S. Amateur champion arrived in Woburn with six top 10s, including three thirds and a runner-up finish in the Omega European Masters.
