GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Teachers at San Marino High School in Southern California allowed Elizabeth Wang to finish her sophomore year a week earlier than her classmates. Wang had a valid reason for the request: She was scheduled to compete in her first L.P.G.A. tournament.
With the event approaching, Wang had not played as many rounds or practiced as often as she normally does. She was too busy finishing her homework assignments and studying for her final exams.
Still, Wang, who turned 16 last week, did not display any outward signs of nervousness at the ShopRite L.
