The final spot in the Open Championship, originally allocated to a top finisher at The Greenbrier Classic, will now be up for grabs next week at the PGA Tour's Barracuda Championship.
The top player not already exempt from among the top five finishers at The Greenbrier was expected to qualify for Royal Troon, but the PGA Tour announced Saturday that the July 7-10 tournament would be canceled because of extensive flooding in the area that left the golf course beyond repair.
That decision left one berth in the season's third major still up for grabs, and tournament officials have decided to give it to the top finisher next week in Reno, Nev.
