PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – Derek Fathauer’s first brush with the lead on the PGA Tour didn’t go as planned Sunday at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Thankfully for Fathauer, he’ll have a chance for redemption on Monday.
Fathauer began the final-round at El Camaleon equipped with a one-shot lead, but that advantage was erased when he bogeyed the opening hole. With many of the leaders taking advantage of soft conditions, Fathauer was unable to get anything going and didn’t make his first birdie of the day until No. 9.
Fathauer bogeyed the very next hole and was 1 over through 12 holes when play was halted because of darkness.
