Even with easier Sunday, toughest Masters since '07

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Three days of steady wind led to the toughest Masters in nearly a decade.

Augusta National played to a cumulative scoring average of 74.4. That’s the highest since 2007, when Zach Johnson won a cold, windy Masters at 1 over par and the scoring average for the week was 75.89.

The toughest hole last week was, no surprise, the 505-yard, par-4 11th, which surrendered only nine birdies during the tournament. The next-hardest was the opening hole (4.4 average), which for the better part of four days played into a stiff breeze.
