TURNBERRY, Scotland – Suzann Pettersen battled wind, rain and frustration Saturday to keep herself in the hunt to win her third major championship at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
With an even-par 72, Pettersen lost her spot atop the leaderboard, but actually gained a chance to erase some bitter memories from a year ago.
Pettersen, 34, will start Sunday at Trump Turnberry one shot off the lead. That’s exactly where she started this championship a year ago at Royal Birkdale, where she ended shooting a 75 and tying for second. It’s her best finish in a Women’s British Open
“Last year was the closest I've been,” Pettersen said.
