European Tour Pulls Out of WGC for 2016

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — The European Tour has chosen France over Firestone.

A crowded 2016 schedule because of golf's return to the Olympics means the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone has moved up from early August to late June. Next year it will be the same week as the French Open on the European Tour.

New European Tour chief Keith Pelley says Europe will not co-sanction the World Golf Championship event next year. That means a European Tour player will not get Ryder Cup points or official money from the Bridgestone Invitational next year.

That is sure to water down the field at Firestone next year.
