European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley will have to come up with a better deal if he wants to realize his dream of taking over the Asian Tour. Pelley will travel to next week’s EurAsia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, where he intends to meet with Kyi Hla Han, the Asian Tour’s interim commissioner, to try to salvage what he thought was an agreed merger of the tours.
Pelley’s first act after becoming head of the European Tour in August was to announce a merger of the European and Asian tours. However, the merger had been agreed only in principle and was not legally binding, a source close to the negotiations told Golfweek.
