If Keith Pelley, the European Tour’s new chief executive, needed a lesson on the disparity of European Tour fields, then his trip to this week’s Made in Denmark tournament at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Farso should provide much clarity.
It isn’t the strongest European field ever assembled. It’s not alone. Pelley doesn’t need to dig too deeply to find other tournaments with similarly weak fields.
Defending champion Marc Warren is the only world top-50 player in the field. Soren Kjeldsen, one of the home favorites, is the only other world top-100 player. There are only 13 players within the world top 200.
