You could say Eugene Hong was destined to be a Florida Gator.
The 15-year-old from Sanford, Fla., lives about two hours from the Gainesville campus and has two older siblings who are graduates of the university. On Monday, Hong, one of the top recruits in the Class of 2018, announced his verbal commitment to the Gators.
"I never visited any other schools other than UF," Hong told Golfweek. "My brother and sister graduated from there, so I was always interested in football, golf and basketball games."
Hong, ranked fifth by Golfweek and 10th in the Polo Golf Junior Rankings, recently advanced to the semifinals of the U.
