ESPN talkers drown out British Open's final-round drama

There have been times when I’ve lavished praise on ESPN. One year – 2010, I believe it was – I wrote something to the effect that ESPN’s live coverage of the British Open was perhaps the best I’d ever seen.

I like a number of ESPN’s announcers. Paul Azinger, to my mind, clearly has established himself as the best analyst on live coverage, and I only wish we were able to see him more than once a year. I’ve always thought that Mike Tirico was an impressive conductor of the orchestra, especially given how little golf he does and how many moving parts there are on an Open telecast.
