Eun Jeong Seong appears she has no designs on giving up her U.S. Girls’ Junior title, but that didn’t mean medalist honors for the 16-year-old Korean.
The defending champion opened in 6-under 67 on Monday to take a two-shot lead, but Ridgewood Country Club took a bite back on Tuesday as Seong posted 3-over 76 to fall to 3 under.
That earned her solo third in the stroke-play race, as Hye-Jin Choi (71), of Korea, and Golfweek No. 51 Sadie Englemann (72), of Austin, Texas, earned co-medalist honors at 5 under in Paramus, N.J.
Seong will certainly be a part of the match play, though, where she will be looking to become the first player to win back-to-back titles at the U.
