Dylan Healey defeated Hayden Wood in a playoff to capture the Southwestern Amateur Saturday in Scottdale, Ariz.
Healey, who recently completed his junior season at Cal State-San Marcos (NAIA), birdied his last three holes of regulation to shoot a closing 4-under 275 at Desert Mountain Club. He finished 72 holes at 5-under 275 along with Wood, a rising sophomore at Oklahoma State.
On the first playoff hole, the par-3 18th, Healey made par while Wood posted a bogey.
Eric Sugimoto, a USC grad who helped the Trojans to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship earlier this month, finished solo third at 4 under.
