ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Amateur Paul Dunne entered the final round of the Open Championship with a share of the lead.
He didn’t even walk away with the silver medal.
Dunne, playing in the final group with Louis Oosthuizen, shot a final-round 78 to slide all the way to a tie for 30th.
That opened the door for Jordan Niebrugge, who briefly scared the lead on the front nine and earned low-amateur honors with a T-6 showing. He closed with 70.
