ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. –– There is just one room at the home of Davis Love III with golf memorabilia. It is his downstairs “man cave” with the pool table. To no surprise, there’s the Wannamaker Trophy from his victory at the 1996 PGA Championship at Winged Foot. Surrounding his one major? The winner’s belts he and son, Dru, collected from winning the 2013 PNC Father-Son Challenge.
“We didn’t loan those to Sea Island for their trophy case,” Love III said proudly.
Dru, a junior at Alabama, earned his place in the field at the RSM Classic by shooting 67 Sunday in an 18-hole qualifier, defeating Drew Weaver, Josh Teater, and former Tide teammate Cory Whitsett for one of the tournament's sponsor invitations.
