DORAL, Fla. – Although the current focus is on the future of the WGC-Cadillac Championship, which will likely lose Cadillac as a title sponsor after this week, the South Florida stop is not the only PGA Tour event searching for a new sponsor.
The year-opening event in Maui lost Hyundai as a sponsor after this year’s tournament when the car manufacturer shifted its sponsorship to the Los Angeles stop.
Despite Hyundai’s move to the mainland, Tour commissioner Tim Finchem sounded confident on Sunday at Doral that a replacement would be found for an event that enjoyed one of its strongest fields in a decade this year.
